Benefits Police Officer recruits start at $34.05 per hour ($70,828.37 annually). Upon graduation from the police academy, an immediate step increase is received, with annual step increases thereafter during the first five years of employment. Employees receive employer‑paid vision, dental, short‑term disability and life insurances; a generous health insurance plan is available. Full‑time employees also receive paid vacation, sick, and personal leave. Police Officers contribute to the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund. Responsibilities Police Officers take proper enforcement action as necessary to maintain order, safety, and general welfare of the city. Officers provide a highly visible, professional presence while conducting patrol activities, maintaining safety, and assisting citizens in a wide range of emergency and non‑emergency situations. Qualifications The incumbent must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to hold an Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate. The incumbent shall be at least 21 years of age. A bachelor’s degree and/or active‑duty military service with honorable discharge is preferred. The incumbent must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the city’s vehicle insurance policy. Must successfully pass a background check in accordance with city criteria and state law, including credit, criminal history, employment, reference checks, and home interview. After a conditional offer, candidates will be subject to a lie‑detector examination, medical evaluation, drug screen, and psychological evaluation to determine fitness for duty. Personality assessments may also be used. Must pass the Law Enforcement–Frontline Exam. Must complete the National Testing Network personal history questionnaire. #J-18808-Ljbffr
