Working alongside veterinarians, production teams, and animal care staff, you will help ensure the health, welfare, and quality of our beagle, ferret, minipig, and cat colonies while supporting the programs that make our mission possible.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

• Participate in all veterinary technical responsibilities for beagles, ferrets, minipigs, and cats.
• Ensure all veterinary matters are promptly communicated to veterinary staff.
• Conduct pre-shipment quality examinations of beagles and cats following established protocols and customer requirements.
• Collect blood samples, perform laboratory testing, and complete related diagnostic procedures.
• Participate in cardiac auscultation and general health examinations of potential beagle breeders.
• Administer vaccines across all species.
• Conduct skin health assessments for beagles at required ages.
• Assist veterinary and production staff with elective and non-elective surgical and anesthetic procedures.
• Review animal health status for hold and reserve orders to determine eligibility for sale.
• Conduct FELASA testing for beagles, cats, and minipigs, including sample collection, submission, and result coordination.
• Assist with ECGs, radiography, laboratory procedures, and other technical veterinary tasks.
• Administer treatments as prescribed.
• Support production operations as necessary and directed.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with required procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What You Bring

Required Education

• New York State Veterinary Technician License required.

Required Experience

• Demonstrated proficiency in veterinary technician practices and animal health procedures.
• Experience administering medications, vaccines, and treatments.
• Knowledge of animal care, health assessment, sample collection, and laboratory testing.
• Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience assisting with surgical and anesthetic procedures.
• Experience performing ECGs, radiography, and laboratory diagnostics.
• Experience working with multiple species in a veterinary, research, agricultural, or animal production environment.

Work Environment

This position may require:

• Frequent contact with beagles, ferrets, minipigs, and cats.
• Working in varying temperatures and animal care environments.
• Working in areas where hearing protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE) are required.
• Meeting barrier facility requirements, including annual influenza vaccination requirements and restrictions regarding contact with certain animals outside of work.
• Shared extended hours and weekend coverage as required.
• Physically demanding work, including lifting and handling animals.
• Working in a fast-paced environment requiring strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective communication.

Schedule & Compensation

• Schedule: Primarily first shift.
• Weekend/On-Call Requirements: Shared weekend and extended-hour coverage as required.
• Pay Grade: N7
• Pay Range: $24.54 - $41.33 per hour.
