Work Shift
The Cardiovascular Technologist I is a professional without Cath Lab or interventional experience training to assist during diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular procedures.
Will train to assist the physician during procedures and operate specialized equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Interacts primarily with adult patients aged eighteen to sixty‑five, and geriatric patients over the age of sixty‑five.
May participate in the Cath or EP call rotation once appropriately oriented and checked off on clinical and operational competencies.

Will train to assist the physician in the performance of facility‑specific cardiovascular Cath and EP procedures.
Will train to function in monitoring, scrubbing or circulating roles.
Works in conjunction with interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists and cardiologists.
Must be flexible with hours to meet departmental needs.
Provides privacy and comfort for patients/customers.
Assists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and Performance Improvement.
Learns how to enter data into Cath Lab log and verify accuracy and completeness.
Answers departmental phone using appropriate scripting.
Maintains stock levels and checks expiration dates.
Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for procedures.

Quality and Patient Safety

Understands and complies with site/side marking when indicated.

Will train to provide patient, family and support‑system education.
Will train to provide patient education related to their procedure, including preparation for future procedures or transfer to another facility.
Will train to provide post‑procedural home care instructions as needed.
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work and code of conduct.

Associate’s degree in Health Science, or Accredited Program in Radiologic Science (Preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Health Science (Preferred)

One year of relevant medical experience (LPN, RT, EMT/Paramedic) may be used in lieu of formal education — Required
Graduate of a CVT program — Preferred
Work experience in a medical setting — Preferred

Basic knowledge of electrocardiography, coronary heart disease, cardiac anatomy and physiology preferred, with EKG interpretation.
Basic knowledge of hemodynamics, intracardiac electrograms and electrophysiology equipment.
Ability to react quickly to emergency patient care situations.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, patients, families and physicians.
Ability to communicate and understand verbal and written English language.
