What are the major job responsibilities?

The GSRP Lead Teacher is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the GSRP classroom including planning and executing a program of activities that is developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of preschool children through the High Scope curriculum.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Collaborate with school personnel, parents, various community agencies and Early Childhood Specialists for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcome and developing solutions and planning curriculum.
• Collect, analyze, and prepare data for diagnosis of learning disorders, developing remediation plans, and/or evaluating student progress. and reporting to the school, district, state, and federal agencies as necessary
• Direct staff and volunteers to maximize their efficiency and meeting work requirements..
• Further personal education via staff development, college courses, etc. for the purpose of staying current with the latest and best practices, and learning new theories and technology.
• Maintain confidentiality of all information for the purpose of protection of students, staff, parents, and the district.
• Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and an optimal learning environment.
• Work with the Associate Teacher to provide child and parent/family support through home visits, Parent-Teacher conferences and other activities and resources.
• Participates in various meetings for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information.
• Prepare teaching materials and related reports (e.g. attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree Early Childhood or Child Development
• Valid State of Michigan Teacher Certification with an Early Childhood Endorsement. (ZA or ZS)
• Several years' experience as a successful preschool teacher
• Ability to communicate with others effectively
• Excellent organizational and managerial skills
• Adept at monitoring, reporting and setting goals for student progress
• Will successfully pass a criminal background check
