General Maintenance Worker

Set Pay Rate: $26.68

SHIFT: 5:00am-1:30pm

Essential Functions:

• Perform alterations involving construction repairs, renovations, fabrications and modifications of building and office surfaces.
• Performs maintenance and repair of walls, doors, frames, windows, window frames, forms, ceilings, roofs, floors, all types of framing, shelving, tables, benches, cabinets, counters, countertops and facings, signs, scaffolds, and different building components such as wood, wood substitutes, metal, Masonite board, plastics, laminates, sheet rock, paneling, etc.
• Modifies, installs, and assembles, removes or repairs structures, partitions, walls, cabinets, furniture, roofs, ceilings, and floor coverings.
• Sands, scrapes, paints, stains, varnishes shelves, cabinets and furniture as assigned.
• Install, repair, or replaces building hardware including locks, door closers, door hinges and/or stops.
• Repairs, replaces or installs roofing materials, shelves, pictures, posters, clocks, toilet paper dispensers, and other items or accessories as assigned.
• Other tasks, such as locksmith work, tile setting, masonry, painting, glazing, and cabinet making.
• Comply with priorities for the flow of work
• Use technology for the completion of specified job duties
• Use and care for equipment properly following all safety requirements
• Attend work regularly according to assigned work schedule
• Wear ID badge(s) at all times while performing work under this contract.
• Follow instructions
• Attend and participate in all meetings and activities to facilitate professional development
• Work cooperatively with others in a positive, enthusiastic, respectful, and courteous manner
• Comply with all Agency policies and procedures and follow contract specifications
• Pass and comply with rules for the site, security and safety guidelines, and Chimes District of Columbia Rules for the Workplace, and ensure others do the same
• Assist as needed during Snow removal

Physical Abilities Needed to Meet Work Demands:

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to go up and down stairs
• Ability to get into and out of truck
• Ability to reach above the head, bend, kneel, stoop
• Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50lbs. regularly as needed
• Ability to work in dusty spaces or adverse weather conditions
• Ability to see details on the floor, above the head, or on surfaces

Other requirements:

• Valid driver’s license from state of residence and ability to drive
• License must have been valid for at least 3 years
• Acceptable driving record as determined by Agency’s insurance carrier and by Chimes DC policies and procedures

Essential Personnel:

This position is designated as essential. This means that when the facility is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in this position may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the facility.

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience :

• A minimum of five (2) years of experience working in a Maintenance Trade
• Extremely high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to perform quality work while following safety procedures
• Must be knowledgeable of and able to apply all local, state, and federal codes
• Must be able to work OT if and when needed
