Telecommunications Infrastructure Technician IIIThe MIL Corporation is looking for a Telecommunications Infrastructure Technician III to support the installation of Inside Plant (ISP) cabling and related cabling infrastructure. This role supports a Federal Government client at Camp H.M. Smith in Aiea, HI. Preferred candidates will reside in or near the Lexington Park, MD area; however, candidates located elsewhere will also be considered.This position currently requires an on-site schedule of 4 twelve hour days on-site (4-12's) per week. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.ResponsibilitiesAct as a technical lead for a team of three Telecommunications Technician I and II personnel, offering direction, knowledge sharing, and hands-on support in coordination with Project Managers and Engineers.Interpret engineering packages and support job site coordination support for materials, tools, and work crewsInterface with the end customer, attend project meetings, submitting daily or weekly status reports as applicableWork within ISP installation crews to perform infrastructure installation, demolition, and updatingAssist with pre-installation testing of materialsPerform efforts within confined spaces as necessaryMaintain responsibility for quality of effort and safety of personnel.Maintain proficiency working with copperTravelThis position requires extensive travel, with approximately 90% travel to Hawaii. Candidates must be willing and able to travel to Hawaii for extended assignments of up to 9 consecutive weeks at a time.Required Qualifications6+ years' experience working ISP and/or OSP cabling and cabling infrastructureDemonstrable understanding of TIA/EIA, BICSI, IEEE, or related standards as they apply to the installation of OSI Layer 1 infrastructureAbility to interpret engineering packagesExperience working in inside and outside cable plant environmentsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, and organization skillsAbility to interface professionally with individuals at all levels and communicate effectively with project staff and other team membersAbility to perform necessary activities required for ISP installation and related actionsMust be able to lift items up to National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) limitsMust be able to stand, kneel and/or crouch for extended periods of timeMust be able to climb ladders and scaffoldingMust be able to work in high places, as well as small, cramped, or confined spacesMust be able to work in hot humid places, as well as cold placesMust maintain a valid driver's license with clean driving recordDesired QualificationsExperience with testing fiber and/or copperExperience working in data centers and server farmsCurrent Top Secret / SCI clearanceCurrent BICSI Installer Certification and continued certification/trainingFiber and copper certificationsAssociates degree in a related technical areaEducationA high school diploma or equivalentClearanceAll applicants for this position must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; please note that the clearance process considers financial background aspects.CompensationThe SCA (Service Contract Act) role at The MIL Corporation is subject to the regulations and guidelines set forth by the U.S. Department of Labor. As an SCA position, it is classified as a service contract and is subject to specific wage determinations and benefit requirements mandated by the government.The compensation and benefits for the SCA role at The MIL Corporation will be in accordance with the prevailing wage rates and benefits specified by the Department of Labor for the specific job classification and location. The current rate is $28.79 - $33.11 per hour.
