HOURS: As needed, based on absences of regular employees



HOURLY RATE: $18.92 - $21.38/hour depending on position



DESCRIPTION:


To cashier during meal service for grades K-12 in either the MS/HS or Elementary building, following established money and ticket collection procedures. To prepare and serve meals to students based on Child Nutrition Services standards.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • To collect money and meal tickets during lunch and issue lunch tickets as needed, keeping an accurate tally of meals served and cash collected.
  • Assist in cleanup of kitchen, including production and service areas and dish machine operation. Maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Keep refridgerators and storerooms clean and neat. All food and supply items are to be stored properly.
  • Operate and maintain equipment as instructed.
  • Notify supervisor of any supplies needed for area of responsibility.
  • Follow correct procedures for safety and sanitation at all times.
  • Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to supervisor immediately.
  • Attend trainings and/or safety meetings as required.
  • Work effectively and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, school personnel, administrators, students, parents, and supervisor.
  • Assist serving meals as needed.
  • Prepare pre-made salads and sandwiches.
  • Set up salad bars and take temperatures.
  • Aligns professional work with the Pillars of the district's strategic plan.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous industrial kitchen experience preferred
  • Skills, knowledge, and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of job
  • Ability to maintain updated knowledge of district policies and procedures that affect the food services program and this position
  • Either currently have or have the ability to obtain a Washington State Food Handler's Permit upon hire

  • Duties include: frequent need to bend, lift, pull, push, reach, move about, hear and speak; stand and/or move around for a full work shift. Noise level may be high when operating equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus.
  • Prescribed safety practices and equipment are to be effectively followed/used at all times to prevent injury to self and others.
  • Ability to use computer equipment to generate/complete reports, etc.
  • While performing work duties, exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials or illnesses may occur.
