About the role

As a Portable Machining Systems Service Technician, you’ll keep Tri Tool equipment mission-ready—from the moment a unit returns from the field to the moment it ships out again. You’ll diagnose issues, plan and perform repairs or refurbishments, run verification tests, and document every step so our asset history stays accurate. Your work happens in our shop and, at times, on customer sites, where you’ll troubleshoot and support equipment in real-world conditions.

• Start with a post-rental assessment: triage returned units, note condition, and flag any misuse.
• Plan the work: identify parts needed, create a repair/refurbishment approach, and order replacements.
• Execute the fix: perform mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electro-mechanical repairs; complete preventative maintenance.
• Prove performance: set up and conduct functional and verification tests to ensure final operability.
• Finish strong: repackage units for return shipment or restock and complete all tracking paperwork.
• Pitch in: help unload and load shipments, assist fellow technicians, and back up the lease manager when needed.

• Installation and setup support for Tri Tool products (essential).
• Diagnostic analysis, repair, and preventive maintenance on the full product line (essential).
• Functional and verification testing for all equipment prior to release (essential).
• Rental/lease readiness checks before shipping and return inspections with full asset-history documentation (essential).
• Quality assurance for final repair and product condition, including safe, proper repackaging (essential).
• Shipping/receiving support : assist with truck loading/unloading; complete packing slips and paperwork (essential).
• Facility care : keep work areas clean and safe (essential).
• Team support : assist other technicians; provide backup for the lease manager; perform special projects and other assigned duties (essential).

• 2+ years of hands-on mechanical repair experience.
• Background with hydraulic systems; able to read hydraulic schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Familiarity with TIG and MIG welding arc characteristics.
• Proficient operating power tools and forklifts safely with little to no supervision.
• Comfortable with basic computer tasks: MS Office (including Excel) and ERP interfaces.
• Customer-service mindset: respond promptly and escalate complex issues appropriately.
• Collaborative and relationship-focused with strong interpersonal skills.
• Clear communicator; able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Adaptable to shifting priorities with solid organization, problem solving, and common sense.

• Deeper fluency with electronic and hydraulic schematics and wiring diagrams.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical/other training preferred.

• Valid Driver’s License (may be required by local, state, and/or contract needs).
• Technical/vocational training a plus.

Ability to perform for extended periods (with or without assistance):

• Maneuvering to and around equipment.
• Bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching.
• Lifting and moving up to 50 lbs.
• Climbing ladders or step stools.
• Monitoring gauges, controls, and/or computer systems.

Work occurs in manufacturing/warehouse spaces with forklifts, material handling, and production equipment, as well as in an office setting. You may encounter equipment noise and, depending on weather, heat, cold, wind, and rain.
