Financial Director

Our client, a regional planning and development agency, is seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead their financial operations team in Aiken, SC. Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000, based on experience South Carolina State Employee Health Insurance 401(k) and 457 deferred compensation match programs 13 paid holidays annually Paid Time Off for annual and sick leave A Day in the Life of the Finance Director As Finance Director, you'll serve as the organization's chief financial officer, overseeing all financial planning, budgeting, audits, and compliance activities. You'll guide a finance team while collaborating closely with senior leadership and department heads to keep programs financially sound. Your work will directly support the agency's mission of improving the quality of life for residents across a six-county region in South Carolina. Responsibilities include: Overseeing all financial obligations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, cash receipts, and general ledger functions Developing and managing budgets, forecasting financial performance, and analyzing trends Overseeing cash management, investments, and risk controls Managing the organization's computerized accounting systems Compiling fiscal reports and documentation for annual audits and grant compliance Conducting internal audits of programs and contracts Performing on- and off-site fiscal monitoring of partner agencies Ensuring compliance with Federal Financial Management Circulars and related regulations Coordinating the annual audit with an approved outside auditing firm Communicating financial performance to division heads and senior management Mentoring the finance team and aligning financial goals with organizational strategy Assisting with investment management and annual budget preparation Presenting monthly financial statements and budget recommendations to the Board of Directors Supervising finance department staff, including hiring and performance management Assisting with supervision of administrative division staff Requirements and Qualifications: 2+ years of accounting or financial management experience with a proven leadership track record 3+ years of grants or government-related experience in a nonprofit organization Working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to governmental/grants accounting (including CFR 200 "Super Circular") Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel/Access, QuickBooks or equivalent Master's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related business field Strong organizational, management, and communication skills Ability to obtain bonding under the organization's Fidelity Bond (minimum $500,000) Valid driver's license, with ability to travel within the six-county service region and to occasional training/programmatic meetings About the Hiring Company: Our client is a regional planning and development organization serving a six-county area in South Carolina.
