Stationary Relief Engineer

Job Overview Stationary Relief Engineer – St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, MN. Classification: Stationary Engineer (Non‑Job Exempt, Full‑Time). Salary: $33.57 – $38.98 per hour. Work Shift: Rotating shifts, 40 hours per week. Responsibilities Operate the heating plant to provide steam for the campus and monitor the Energy Management System. Make changes to scheduled events and set points when required. Cover other stationary engineer shifts as needed for vacation, sick leave, or overtime. Respond to emergency phone calls and coordinate with maintenance personnel during critical situations. Represent the university in a professional manner and ensure compliance with all Minnesota State Boiler and Pressure Vessel codes. Act as an essential resource during natural and man‑made disasters and inclement weather, reporting for duty as directed and being subject to recall. Minimum Qualifications 1st Class B State of Minnesota boiler license. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of high‑pressure boilers, furnaces, mechanical systems, and other equipment within a steam generation plant. Ability to operate, maintain, and repair high‑pressure steam boilers and plant equipment on an assigned shift. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work cooperatively with tradesmen, faculty, staff, students, and on occasion the public. Adherence to all safety rules and regulations, with diligent precautions to prevent injury and illness. Physical capability to lift, climb stairs, and use ladders as required by job duties. Other Requirements Eligible to work in the United States on or before the effective date of appointment (citizen, lawful permanent resident, or foreign national authorized to work without sponsorship). Must maintain U.S. work authorization without sponsorship for the duration of appointment.
