Maintains accountability for his/her own practice; provides nursing care for patients; participates in patient and family teaching; and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the acute care setting. The ED Registered Nurse also delegates/provides direction to other nursing personnel in the unit in accordance with their level of experience and expertise.Schedule: 6a-6pQualifications:Graduate of accredited school of nursing with current WI RN licensure in good standing.Minimum of two years RN experience (or equivalent) required.Minimum of one year ED experience preferred.Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and TNCC (or similar trauma certification) or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment.Meets OMC health requirementsResponsibilities include:Provide direct nursing care in assigned departments based on staffing needs patient acuity and demonstrated competencies.Float between designated clinical areas including Med/Surg, ED, and OB as trained and qualifiedAssist with staffing shortages related to sick calls PTO unexpected vacancies and increased patient care demandsPerform comprehensive nursing assessments administer medications and treatments and document care accurately in the electronic medical recordRespond to changes in patient condition initiate appropriate interventions and communicate promptly with the healthcare teamSupport admissions discharges transfers and patient throughputCollaborate with nursing leadership, initiative supervisor to prioritize assignments and respond to changing organizational needsMaintain required competencies certifications and knowledge specific to the assigned clinical departmentsFollow OMC policies evidence-based standards and applicable regulatory requirementsContinually strives to meet and exceed customer service standards in all interactions with customers, which include patients, visitors, other hospital employees, and medical staffCommunicates patient status and plan of care with patient and their family.Attends staff meetings and mandatory education.Maintains appropriate licenses and certifications independently.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Demonstrates flexibility in assignment and supports departments within the RN's scope of practice and demonstrated competencies.Perform essential functions of a Registered NurseKnowledge of current nursing practices and technical skillsSkilled in use of basic patient care equipment and suppliesDemonstrate and maintain required competencies.Recognize change in patient condition/body systems.Knowledge of infection control practices and their relation to patient care outcomesAccuracy and attention to detail in performing all job duties.Assess multiple systems, develop plan of care, provide intervention and education, and assess outcomes of patient care.Ensure that all physician orders are transcribed accurately and carried out as soon as possible.Effectively participate in the interdisciplinary care teamDevelop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members and co-workers.Communicate clearly both orally and in writing.Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and OMC policy.Provide age appropriate and culturally appropriate care.Participate in the orientation process of new staff.Physical Requirements for the Role:Stands and walks up to eight to twelve hours daily while performing patient care and treatment activities.Squats and kneels occasionally, reach to shoulder height occasionally, use manual dexterity to perform care/treatment activities, and use visual and auditory acuity to see detailsAbility to lift independently up to 50 pounds as well as push and pull up to 50 pounds.Ability to lift, with assistance, over 100 pounds daily.Use a computer for 2 to 4 hours or more a day for EMR documentation.Work Environment:Provides patient care in a hospital nursing department.May be exposed to hazardous substances, harmful physical agents, and infectious agents that exist in the patient care areas.May be exposed to toxic substances brought in by patients exposed elsewhere.Behavior-Based Leadership Expectations:Treat every patient, visitor, and team member with dignity and respectTake ownership of their actions and follow through on commitmentsAdapt positively to change and support new initiativesContribute to a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountabilityConsistently act in ways that support OMC’s mission and valuesWhy Join OMC?At OMC, we don’t just hire for skills—we hire for behaviors that align with our mission.
