In this role, you will evaluate and underwrite consumer, indirect, and student loan applications, ensuring decisions align with established lending policies, regulatory requirements, and our commitment to exceptional member service.You will play a key role in helping members find the right lending solutions while supporting the growth and success of the credit union.This position earns a competitive minimum starting hourly pay of $28. Consumer Loan Underwriter What You'll Do:Review and underwrite consumer loan applications efficiently and accuratelyMake informed credit decisions within established policies and authority limitsProcess loan applications via web, phone, and indirect dealersCommunicate loan decisions to members and loan officers, ensuring clarity on next stepsCross-sell credit union products and services, such as GAP and loan protection optionsProvide expert guidance to loan officers and counsel members on credit mattersWork collaboratively with vendors, indirect dealers, and other credit union departmentsMaintain underwriting manuals and stay updated on lending regulationsWhat You'll Bring:3-5 years of consumer underwriting or related consumer lending experienceStrong knowledge of consumer loan underwriting principlesAbility to balance risk assessment with member-focused solutionsExceptional communication skills, both written and verbalSound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential informationAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent interactionsWhy Join Us?At Dow Credit Union we're committed to supporting our members and employees.
