Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. The unit has 14 private rooms, including two negative pressure rooms. Patient types include STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and thoracic surgery cases. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. Support in the department includes a charge nurse who may or may not have patient assignments. There is a respiratory team available 24/7 and intensivist coverage at all times. The technology in use includes Epic for electronic medical records, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors. Floating to other facilities within the region and scope of practice may occur if necessary. Travelers will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities during mid-shift float assignments. Weekend rotations require working every other weekend. Holiday expectations include working 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, with the requirement to add time to the contract for any unfulfilled hours. The typical shift times are 0645-1915 and 1845-0715. The schedule cycle updates every 6 weeks. Scrub color is navy. Essential skills include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification with a minimum of 2 years in a Critical Care environment.
