This position can be located in either Goleta, CA or Oxnard, CA.This position can be filled at a level 2 or level 3. You will have ownership of your work from the concept creation through the design and analysis phases and may also participate in the manufacturing, testing, and integration of the systems.Role and Responsibilities:Perform static and dynamic structural analyses, review requirements for materials, structure systems & subsystems.Document test plans and procedure requirements.Participate and present in internal and external (customer) design reviews.Strive for the highest possible structural performance that is also cost effective and assures complete reliability.Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining a focus towards common project goals of the program team, matrix organization, and customers.Basic Qualifications or Level 3:Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years engineering experience in finite element analysis and closed-form analysis Demonstrated experience with FEA analysis, ie: NASTRAN, for structural analysis of designsExperience with spacecraft/aerospace materials in metals, adhesives, thermoplastics, etc.Demonstrated understanding of mechanical system designExperience providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineersUS Citizenship is requiredBasic Qualifications or Level 4:Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 9 years engineering experience in finite element analysis and closed-form analysis Demonstrated experience with FEA analysis, ie: NASTRAN, for structural analysis of designsExperience with spacecraft/aerospace materials in metals, adhesives, thermoplastics, etc.Demonstrated understanding of mechanical system designExperience providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineersUS Citizenship is requiredPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in a STEM disciplineExperience with structures and mechanisms for moving mechanical assemblies such as solar arrays, booms, and other support structures and mechanisms for satellite subsystems4 or more years of direct Structural Engineering experience, preferably in the spacecraft or aerospace industry, with significant project ownershipDetailed mechanical design knowledge of structures, mechanisms, release and drive actuators, and material selectionWorking knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes such as machining, finishing, and rapid prototypingProblem solving skills with hands-on project experienceSelf-motivated with excellent technical communication skillsWorking at Northrop Grumman is more than just a paycheck. For more information on our Total Rewards package, please visit our Total Rewards site.Northrop Grumman Total RewardsPrimary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
