Driver License Examiner (Lancaster)

Overview As a Driver License Examiner for the Department of Transportation in Lancaster County, you help ensure that every new driver meets safety standards. Responsibilities Driver Testing: Administer vision, knowledge and road tests to determine driving qualifications Document Review: Examine applications and identity documents for accuracy and authenticity Vehicle Inspection: Check vehicles for proper mechanical condition and required safety features Identity Verification: Use system tools to confirm eligibility and prevent fraudulent transactions Customer Assistance: Provide guidance on licensing procedures, requirements and test results Record Processing: Issue licenses, update records and follow all required policies and regulations Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information Full-time employment Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch Overtime and travel to other driver license centers may be required as necessary Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for notices Qualifications Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public Special Requirements: This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
