Employment Type: Visiting Medical Officer Position Classification: Visiting Medical Officer Hours Per Week: 0 Requisition ID: REQ659184 The BreastScreen NSW South Eastern Sydney Illawarra (SESI) Service is operationally managed by the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) and covers regions within SESLHD and Illawarra and Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD). Screening and assessment services are conducted at several fixed and mobile sites. This role supports the Designated Radiologist and the Deputy Designated Radiologist assists in overseeing the quality and performance of radiological services within BreastScreen NSW (SESI). The role performs tasks as directed by the Designated Radiologist and Director to achieve performance standards and strategic priorities and works closely with the Designated Radiologist, Director, Clinical Coordinator and radiologists. Responsibilities Conduct screen reading and assessment clinic duties as requested by the Service. Facilitate orientation and supervision of radiologists new to the Service. Develop or participate in continuing professional development activities and encourage participation by other radiologists. Assist the Designated Radiologist in performance review of the Service’s standards. Contribute to a culture of continual quality assurance and improvement within the Service and workforce. Review individual client cases, including interval clients, cancer files and MDT cases, and provide feedback to the relevant radiologist as directed. Provide strategic input on the future development of the Service, particularly regarding the sustainability of high‑quality and timely assessment clinics. Manage time and prioritise issues given the complexity and volume of workload. Provide senior‑level clinical decision‑making, particularly in reviewing the performance of other clinicians. Contribute to collegial and professional communication within the radiology team and the BreastScreen NSW (SESI) team more broadly. Qualifications Registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA); applicant must provide AHPRA Registration Number. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) and/or equivalent specialist recognition, with demonstrated subspecialty training in Breast Mammography. Evidence of continuing medical education and self‑monitoring/audit practices consistent with scope of practice. Proven capacity or experience in delivering high‑quality services, demonstrated through extensive clinical practice in BreastScreen, including participation in quality improvement activities. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and experience in teaching postgraduate trainees within the Service. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for a senior Medical Practitioner, including modeling professional behaviour to junior staff. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with medical and other health service colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff across multiple sites. Demonstrated experience and commitment to research relevant to the role and the needs of the Service. Location The primary location of this position may vary as agreed with the Director of Medical Services and approved by MDAAC to other facilities in SESLHD.
