Tucson VAMC The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) located in Tucson AZ serves over 171,000 Veterans located in eight counties in Southern Arizona and one county in Western New Mexico. SAVAHCS is a 295-bed hospital providing primary care and sub-specialty health care in numerous medical areas for eligible Veterans. SAVAHCS also provides our Veterans with quality care at our seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics located at Safford, Casa Grande, Sierra Vista, Yuma, Green Valley, Northwest and Southeast Tucson. RN ICU Requirements

• Providing professional nursing care principles, practices and procedures required to assess needs of patients;
• The ICU RN must possess knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use; recognizing adverse signs and symptoms which are not always apparent and to react promptly in emergency situations including the implementation of life saving procedures;
• Providing counseling, guidance and health instruction to patients; and
• Identifying disease entities in order to recognize complications and therapeutic interventions required.
• The ICU Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing duties according to established professional nursing principles, practices, and procedures in an ICU setting, assessing patient's physical, emotional, spiritual and socio-cultural needs;
• Demonstrate skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served; provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care to patients;

RN ICU Qualifications

• Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Nursing and eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision -OR- Possess a bachelor's degree in Nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience -OR- Possess a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing
• Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
• Must have a minimum of 12 months experience in an intensive care environment during the last 36 months
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory for all specialties.
• Evidence of current immunizations is required
