About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Preferred acute care facility experience License: Required Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice Certifications: Required Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor. Must-Have: AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification Required. Must-Have: AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS certification Required. Description: Delivers coordinated nursing care for patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff. Coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment. Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes. Implements the plan and coordinates care delivery. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes. Collaborates with the team of patients, families, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Provides learning opportunities for patients and family members. Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment teams. Participates in discharge planning to provide continuity of care. Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. The position requires that all associates receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. E-Verify participation is applicable. The unit has a 6-bed ICU and a 6-bed stepdown unit. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:2 in the ICU and 1:3 in the stepdown unit. Occasionally, patient acuity may require 1:1 care in the ICU. Typical patients may include those with respiratory failure, DKA, post-cardiac catheterization STEMI patients, sepsis, and alcohol withdrawal. Nurses should be able to manage titratable IV drips, including vasopressors, propofol, and fentanyl. The job requires involvement in various special procedures, including moderate sedation, and the use of ICU-level equipment. Scrubs are to be of any solid color.
