Overview Selective Insurance is looking for a summer law clerk for its busy civil litigation insurance defense firm. The selected candidates will gain significant exposure to various aspects of Civil Procedure. This is a summer full-time paid position, and are expected to last 8-12 weeks long depending on availability, with a minimum of two days per week in our local office. Responsibilities Assist in research and writing. Draft pleadings, including motions and briefs. Review and analyze files, organize case materials and assist in evaluating liability and exposure. Assemble and arrange policies, documents, manuals, presentations, and/or printed materials. Ensure quality and accuracy of work. Provide helpful, friendly, knowledgeable customer service on the phone or online. Communicates effectively, completes transactions, and resolves problems. Performs other legal clerical in support of department or function assigned. Qualifications Knowledge and Requirements Ability to work efficiently by staying focused on task at hand and completing work on schedule. Demonstrated commitment to producing quality work. Demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with others. Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel). Education and Experience Attending law school 2-4 years of general office work including some experience in prioritizing work and meeting deadlines.
