About the Role:
David W Tybor OD PC is looking for a skilled and personable Optician to join our team in Austin, TX! In this role, you'll play a vital part in helping patients find the perfect eyewear solutions while delivering exceptional optical care in a welcoming, patient-focused environment. The position is Part time . Optical Hours Monday- Friday 8-5 the position is from Monday-Tuesday 9:30AM-3:30PM and Thursday-Friday 9:30AM-3:30PM. Shifts may change based on the Practice's needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses based on prescriptions, lifestyle, and personal preferences
- Interpret and verify optical prescriptions from licensed optometrists
- Take precise measurements including pupillary distance, segment height, and fitting adjustments
- Dispense, adjust, and repair eyeglasses and contact lenses to ensure proper fit and comfort
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and contact lens care and handling
- Process eyewear orders and coordinate with optical labs for fabrication and delivery
- Maintain accurate patient records and manage inventory of frames and optical supplies
Requirements:
- Previous experience as an Optician or in an optical retail/clinical setting preferred
- ABO (American Board of Opticianry) certification is a plus
- Texas Opticianry license or eligibility to obtain one preferred
- Strong knowledge of lens types, coatings, and frame materials
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with a patient-first attitude
- Detail-oriented with strong measuring and fitting accuracy
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment
