Lead OpticianSalary Range $68,750.00 - $95,000.00 Salary/year Position Type Full TimeOverviewIn accordance with The Massachusetts Pay Transparency Act, BNHC provides reasonable pay range for each posted position. Actual compensation will be based on multiple factors such as relevant experience, education and training to determine offered rates. This range represents the organization's good faith estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting.DescriptionThe Lead Optician supervises optical services at Brockton Neighborhood Health Center working with the Director of the Eye Services. The Lead Optician oversees all aspects of this service with approval of the Director where required.ResponsibilitiesManage and operate the optical services at BNHC, including eyeglass fitting, selling, dispensing and adjusting.Maintain accurate frame, lens & optical supplies inventory and financial records.Take a formal inventory at least twice per year.Collect and maintain accurate patient financial, insurance and demographic information related to the provision of optical goods, using Epic and Flexsys software systems.Collaborate with the health center's billing and fiscal offices to assure the flow of information needed for third party billing for eyeglasses.Manage all Optical services personnel in collaboration with the Director of Eye Services, including performance evaluations, orientation, disciplinary action and hiring. Provides direction to staff to ensure policies and procedures are followed. Quantity of optical orders is considered high volume, many walk in patients. Follow all BNHC protocols and regulations. Provide a friendly and professional environment within Optical.Physical Requirements: The individual must be in good health of mind and body with the physical dexterity and vision suitable to accomplish the job duties outlined above. Knowledge of proper patient transfer assistance is also required and the ability to lift as much as 50 pounds may be necessary.QualificationsOptician Licensed in Massachusetts. At least 5 years of experience as an optician is preferred.Requires an active commitment to excellence in patient care, a desire to improve wellness of our community, an appreciation for community needs, embodies cultural competency, and someone who is excited about the opportunity to continue to enhance the Optical Shop.Familiarity with MA insurance billing is helpful.Proficiency in any of the following languages is preferable: Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, French, and Spanish.CPR/BLS certified
