Operations Specialist

Responsible for assisting staff by performing various administrative task to aid the department in fulfilling legal requests, closing uncollectable accounts, filing insurance/collections claims, processing charged-off loans, and requesting cancellation refunds related to credit union products. Must work as a team player with a positive attitude, ability to multi-task and is comfortable in a changing environment. Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts account closures for negative shares according to credit union procedure and reports information to ChexSystems. Timely file all claims deriving from a repossessed vehicle or uncollectable loan with the appropriate partner. Responds to legal requests such as tax levies, subpoenas, warrants, and garnishments. Responsible for adhering to and maintaining Record Retention guidelines in accordance with Federal Regulations. Accurately update change of address request as received. Prepares document packages for legal and subpoena requests. Processes monthly charge-offs upon approval. Serves as Mortgage liaison as needed with Member First Mortgage and the CLO. Assists other personnel and staff as needed. Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns. Maintains written procedures for the position. Effective verbal and written skills. Attend meetings and training as required. Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained at all times. Keeps up to date on all policy changes and revisions. Ensures Bank Secrecy Act, Consumer Identification Policy, and OFAC policies are followed. Ensure negative share task are completed accurately and timely on a monthly basis. Use of critical judgment in day-to-day situations and problems within established guidelines. Job Specification: High School Diploma Training Requirements: Maintain knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software). Use of desktop and laptop computers. Knowledge of the core system and its ancillary software programs. Work Experience Experience working in a financial institution with a minimum of three years is required. Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: Effective written and oral communication skills Ability to present information through presentations and provide training Physical Requirements Perform primarily sedentary work on computer or laptop for an average of 8 hours per day. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situations. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile and calculator. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must by capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
