Job Summary Strategically, the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology seeks a full‑time, tenure‑track assistant professor of microbiology with a preferred start in August 2026. This nine‑month contracted position focuses on independent research, teaching, and service. Responsibilities Establish an independent, productive, and sustainable research program in microbiology (e.g., infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, bacteriology, immunology, mycology, pathogenesis, parasitology, virology, etc.) as evidenced by peer‑reviewed publications and extramural funding. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Teach undergraduate courses in microbiology and biology, and develop graduate courses integrating microbiology with other biological subdisciplines. Promote student success among the College of Science and Mathematics disciplines and invest deeply in KSU students. Participate in professional service within the department, college, university, and beyond. Required Qualifications Terminal/Doctorate degree, or foreign equivalent, in Biology, Microbiology, or a related discipline at hire time. A strong record of peer‑reviewed publications in microbiology. Postdoctoral research experience in microbiology or a related discipline. Preferred Qualifications Evidence of current or previous external funding. Previous experience teaching biology courses and labs in the university setting and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Required Documents to Attach Current Curriculum Vitae.
