You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST in the INFORMATION WARFARE TRAINING DETACHMENT (IWTD) of NAVMETOCPRODEVCEN.

Duties

Help

• You will research, create, review, and carry out studies and analyses, resulting in courseware instruction in the fields of Meteorology and Oceanography.
• You will assist with course management, instructor certification and evaluation services needed.
• You will act as the primary point of contact in planning, curriculum development, revision, and periodic recertification of meteorological and oceanographic training.
• You will act as the primary Instructor/Course Curriculum Model Manager (C2M2) for courses of instruction in the fields of meteorology and Oceanography as assigned.
• You will review and evaluate audio-visual aids for courses to ensure relevance and accuracy.
• You will participate in seminars, studies, and workshops on: Master Training Specialist Certificate, training and testing materials, methodologies of curriculum development and delivery: and optimization of classroom delivery methods and resources.
• You will maintain, update, and develop new lesson plans and courses of instruction by utilizing expertise in the subject matter and through understating new developments and technologies of the Naval Oceanography Program.
• You will maintain liaison with national, military, scientific, and technical agencies as required.

• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Some work may require walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items, to include computer systems, monitors, and other electronic equipment typically handled by one person.
• Incumbent must have sufficient dexterity to type, use personal computers, and have sufficient oral communication skills to be able to communicate clearly by telephone or in person.
• Travel to attend meetings, conferences, or conduct training away from the work site may be required.
• Work may be performed at mobile training sites, to include onboard Naval facilities and vessels.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
• Medical screening exam is a requirement prior to embarking on U.S. Navy vessel afloat and away from shore for periods of time greater than 24 hours.
• The incumbent must be able to possess a Basic Instructor Course Qualification/NAVY NEC 805A.
• Master Training Specialist Certification is required.

Qualifications

GS-12

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Experience applying instructional design methodologies-specifically the PADDIE model (Planning, Analyzing, Designing, Developing, Implementing, Evaluating)-and Navy education standards (e.g., NAVEDTRA 130 series) to research, develop, and revise technical curriculum, training manuals, and student guides.
• Experience delivering live, technical classroom instruction on complex systems, practices, or scientific disciplines, preferably related to Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) operations or advanced forecasting techniques.
• Experience utilizing specialized curriculum development and management software, such as Authoring Instructional Materials (AIM II CPM/LO), to maintain and build training products
• Experience establishing and maintaining professional liaison relationships with national, military, and scientific agencies to integrate emerging technologies, guidelines, and education policies into ongoing training programs.
