Alvarado Street Brewery Taproom PositionWe are seeking candidates who have a passion for craft beverages, hospitality and the desire to be a part of a team. Reporting to the General Manager this critical position will fulfill and exceed guests' expectations by providing timely, accurate, and friendly service while preparing the highest quality beverages for our guests. This position is located at our Monterey location and is an hourly position with hours that will vary based on business needs.Everyday Essential TasksWelcome and greet guestsTake beverage orders from guests and serversVerify age of all guests who appear < 30 years oldPrepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with our standard drink recipesLearn the names and personally recognize our regular guestsRecord drink orders accurately process in POS system accuratelyAccept guests' payments, process credit card charges and makes changes (if applicable)Prepare garnishes for drinks and replenish appetizers for bar guestsMaintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beveragesClear and resets bar top promptly and efficientlyPresent drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beers and beveragesMaintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areasReceive and serve food orders to guests seated at the barReport all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to the manager on dutyAssist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and suppliesThank guests for their visit and invite them to returnFill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the manager on dutyOther various tasks as assignedComply with all Company safety and health policies and proceduresSkills & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Must be at least 21 years of ageAt least 1 year bartending experience in a restaurant or pub with full bar preferredAbility to maintain professional demeanor in stressful situationsExcellent communication skills – verbal and listeningA desire to help out where needed and work as part of a teamPassion for providing extraordinary serviceThe ability to thrive in a fast-paced environmentFlexibility to work a variety of shiftsMust be upbeat, outgoing and positiveValid Safe Food Handling certification (ServSafe)Current TIPS training certification preferredPhysical & Mental RequirementsAble to stand, walk, and be on your feet for prolonged periodsAble to maneuver on uneven groundAble to read and follow written English instructionsAble to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, and crawlAble to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50+ pounds on occasion and 25 pounds regularly using appropriate techniques and toolsAble to safely navigate crowded spacesOperate food preparation appliances and machineryAble to tolerate exposure to extreme changes in temperatureAble perform daily repetitive hand movements as it pertains to food preparationAble to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise and occasionally slippery floorsAble to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards.PerksDiscounts on food and beverage at our Carmel and Monterey locations.About Alvarado Street BreweryAlvarado Street Brewery was founded by father-son duo John and J.C. Hill in March of 2014. What started as a neighborhood brewery restaurant in Downtown Monterey has evolved into three locations dedicated to serving Monterey county's locals and visitors alike. Our production brewery & tasting room opened in the Spreckels Junction area of Salinas in 2016. In early 2018 we opened our R&D pilot brewery and bistro in Carmel-by-the-Sea, known as the "Stro."
