About the Role:

The Material Handler Level I plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials within the warehouse and production environments. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials and products in a timely and organized manner to support operational needs. The role requires close collaboration with inventory control and production teams to maintain accurate stock levels and ensure materials are handled safely and correctly. The Material Handler Level I contributes to maintaining a clean and safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and company policies. Ultimately, this position supports the overall supply chain process by facilitating smooth material movement and minimizing delays in production schedules.

Responsibilities:

• Picks orders from inventory.

• Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials and products for quality and accuracy.

• Store materials in designated locations and maintain organized inventory to facilitate easy retrieval.

• Pick and prepare materials for production or shipment according to work orders and instructions.

• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.

• Maintain accurate records of material movements and report discrepancies or damages to supervisors.

• Removes damaged materials from stock.

• Cleans, checks, and sets up material dryers, feeders, and/or loaders as required.

• Moves finished goods to specified staging area as required.

• Follow all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.

• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to support daily operational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical mindset, reasoning abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Basic math and reading skills to understand work orders and inventory documentation.
• Prior experience in a warehouse or material handling environment is preferred but not required.
• Ability to operate basic material handling equipment safely after training.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Forklift certification or experience operating forklifts and other powered industrial trucks.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems or warehouse management software.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills to work effectively within a team.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or distribution setting.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand entire shift (8+ hrs.).
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Requires manual dexterity.
• Moderate physical demand involving lifting and moving of materials and equipment.
• Frequently moves from waist level to floor level.

Operating material handling equipment safely requires attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols, which are critical to preventing workplace accidents.
