Travel Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) – San Francisco, CA

You will serve as a true float nurse across nearby emergency department campuses, supported by convenient shuttle transportation between locations in this vibrant Bay Area community.

Travel RN Job Details

• Location: San Francisco, California
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,690–$2,830
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 30, 2026
• End Date: March 1, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Shift Times: Days, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Float Assignment: 100% float role across three nearby emergency department campuses, generally located within approximately 15 minutes of one another
• Additional Scheduling: Weekend rotation and on-call availability required
• Orientation: 36 hours

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Active California Registered Nurse license
• At least 3 years of Emergency Department or emergency room nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS certification from AHA or ARC
• Current ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency caring for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Ability to float between emergency department locations and report to the assigned campus as directed
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, adaptability, and commitment to patient safety

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide direct emergency nursing care using assessment, planning, implementation, and continual reassessment
• Perform triage, prioritize care, and respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions
• Care for patients experiencing trauma, stroke, cardiac emergencies, respiratory illness, behavioral health crises, overdose, burns, sepsis, and other acute conditions
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, procedural sedation, IV therapies, vasopressors, and continuous infusions as indicated
• Manage patients with ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and other advanced equipment
• Assist with intubation and other emergency procedures while maintaining patient safety
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias, neurological emergencies, multisystem organ dysfunction, and other critical conditions
• Serve as a patient advocate and promote safe, high-quality clinical care
• Float between assigned campuses as scheduled; reporting location may be provided approximately two hours before the shift
