Manchester, Belfast or Dublin | 85,000-100,000 + 5,350 Car Allowance + BenefitsI’m recruiting for a Technical Director to join a major international consultancy and take a senior leadership role within its specialist Data Centre team.This is a high level appointment for an experienced Architect, Architectural Technologist or Lead Design Consultant who already has strong technical experience within the Data Centre sector and is comfortable taking responsibility for complex, multidisciplinary projects.The team works with major Data Centre clients across the UK, Ireland and Europe, delivering both Hyperscale and Colocation projects. You’ll be joining an established operation with access to multidisciplinary architectural and engineering teams across multiple countries, rather than being expected to build a Data Centre capability from scratch.Your role will sit at the intersection of technical leadership, design management, client relationships and commercial project delivery.You’ll act as Lead Designer/Consultant across a portfolio of Data Centre projects, coordinating architectural and engineering discipline leads and ensuring design information is delivered to the required quality, programme and commercial expectations.Given the nature of the sector, programmes can be demanding and deadlines relatively immovable. You’ll therefore need to be comfortable overseeing several projects simultaneously, identifying potential problems early and making sure the right technical resources are deployed before issues begin affecting delivery.I’m looking specifically for someone with an architectural and Lead Designer bias. You’ll need a strong technical understanding of buildings, construction, design workflows and digital delivery, alongside the confidence to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.Recent Data Centre experience is essential.Alongside project delivery, there is a significant client and commercial element to the position. You’ll develop relationships with key clients, support the identification of future project opportunities and help secure work across major accounts.You’ll also play an important role in bids, pricing and commercial governance, particularly around CSA packages. That means understanding not only how to deliver technically excellent projects, but how to deliver them profitably and in line with the scope, fees and margins originally agreed.You could currently be operating as a Director, Technical Director, Associate Director or in another senior architectural/design leadership position within the Data Centre sector.Ideally, you’ll be a fully qualified Architect, Chartered Architectural Technologist or equivalent, with a strong track record delivering technically complex projects.
