The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:Qualifications/Requirements:B.S. or B.A. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experienceAt least 3 years of experience building processes that support data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload managementWorking SQL knowledge and at least 3 years of experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databasesA successful history of manipulating and processing large disconnected datasetsExperience with multiple database technologies: SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS (RedShift, ElasticSearch)Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, R, Java, C++, Scala, etc.Experience implementing and documenting data models and schema for new database structures and applications and implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibilityEffective verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated understanding of technology and value to businessExceptional problem-solving skillsAt least 3 years of experience with Python for ETL scripting or similar high level programming languages preferredExperience in object-oriented programming and SOLID principles desiredRegular and reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.Duties/Responsibilities:Transform data into a format that can be easily analyzed, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliabilityHigh level understanding of Python is required to create, update and maintain our ETL data pipelinesBuild high-performance ETL processes, algorithms, prototypes for data modeling, mining, and productionDevelop data set processes for data modeling, mining and productionAssemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirementsIntegrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structuresIdentify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalabilityMaintain proper documentation and adhere to change management processes as well as ongoing performance of quality assurance on all business-impacting processesKansas City Life Insurance Company offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
