OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE:

• Responsible for the management and administration of lab and office space allocation, provide budgets and/or cost estimates of user move requests, and support installation of furniture and furniture systems.
• Provide support at client site on the maintenance and construction of site infrastructure.
• Responsible for finding and recommending where new labs should be built in existing buildings based on available power and HVAC infrastructure capacity.
• Create test fits for client approval and contribute to maintaining the infrastructure database.
• Coordinate and conduct physical setup of initial through final product sections and floor layouts in the office and lab spaces.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Involved in programming, design, fit-out planning, major equipment planning, building systems integration, office and laboratory casework systems design and specification, research on laboratory equipment requirements, and support for construction administration.
• Evaluate office and laboratory space changes requests, review equipment specifications, develop scope of work, collaborate to complete CAD test fits and coordinate equipment relocations and installations as required.
• Managing and maintaining space allocations into CMMS and other related systems.
• Maintain working relationships with all levels of the organization, including senior management, key stakeholder groups, and services departments.
• Attending, and on-occasion leading, office and laboratory planning meetings with design team and clients.
• Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with existing and potential clients.

• Experience with troubleshooting, problem solving and risk assessment / mitigation.
• Knowledge of ADA requirements and building codes desired. LEED and other sustainable accreditations are a plus.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

• Bachelor's degree in architecture or a related field, and over 7+ years of experience in lab and office space planning.
• Strong understanding of building codes and regulations.
• Strong technical skills and understanding of MEP systems.
• CAD experience required, BIM experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• AIA, BIM Professional or other relevant certifications preferred.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft software including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, Project, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint required. Knowledge of Ariba SAP and Concur desired.
• Self-motivated and self-directing to deliver core role responsibilities, and motivated to learn and expand skill-set beyond the scope of the role.
• Demonstrated ability to positively influence outcomes and key project decisions.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, technical, and organizational skills are required. Must be a team player prepared to work in and promote a team-based culture.
