Quality Technician

Quality TechnicianThe Quality Technician is responsible for supporting and driving Quality within Manufacturing operations at A.T. Wall, as well as supporting the day-to-day QA Dept functions including inspection and MRB. This position focuses on targeted Manufacturing Quality objectives with the aim of improving first pass yield, repeatability, and scrap reduction to ensure that products, processes, and measurement equipment meet established standards of quality, safety, and performance, while maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 requirements. Perform internal audits, and liaise with Customers, Suppliers and 3rd party auditors as needed.The Quality Technician will also participate in the development of training for manufacturing and QC and Mfg. personnel, and work closely with production teams to resolve issues, ensure compliance with requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of quality control processes are essential in this position. This position requires ASQ CTQ certification* *Candidates currently working towards certification may be considered Competencies: Technical aptitude – has the ability to learn new equipment and develop into repeatable test processes and records.Can read and understand Blueprints, and can apply manufacturing tolerances, with some GD&TFamiliarity with basic manufacturing measuring equipment, including Mics, Calipers, Optical devices, and other tools as appropriate.Communication Skills – Clearly Conveys ideas and facts (written and spoken).Accountability & Dependability - takes responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieves results with little oversight.Safety – ability to work safely and raise concerns to ops management.Problem Solving - Identify root causes and effectively manage solutions.Understanding Quality Compliance standards and principles, and ways to achieve themLogical and Critical thinking - can make rational decisions based on data and risk.Understanding of basic Quality Tools, including Root Cause Analysis, Pareto, fishbone, 5-why and PFMEAAbility to analyze data and draw conclusions.Emotional Intelligence - able to stay calm and think clearly, in times of uncertainty or stress. Key areas for training Operations/Quality ERP SystemCalibrationTrain, and document (as needed) work instructions for processes within department(s)Develop a thorough understanding of the ISO 9001 framework. ACCOUNTABILITIES: Perform inspection duties per Inspection job description.Perform in-house testing, including but not limited to Hydrostatic testing.Perform Gauge calibration per schedule, coordinate 3rd party calibrations and maintain calibration records and tracking system.Maintain and run MRB Process and ensure items in quarantine are processed in a timely manner.Perform, review, and approve First Article Inspections in accordance with Customer and Industry requirements.Perform and document audits of Manufacturing and Support processes, in accordance with internal and ISO 9001 requirements.Assist in Supplier Quality activities, including requesting and administrating supplier qualification / monitoring documentation.Assist in production improvement and defect reduction projects, as necessary.Support and assist in customer and 3rd party audits.Identify and assist with training efforts in support of Quality, Manufacturing and Compliance objectives.Assist with Customer Quality support and requests for information, as required.Ensure and maintain good record keeping and traceability practices, per customer and ISO 9001 requirements.Participate in creation and updating of procedures and forms as needed, in accordance with Document Control processes. Relationship Management Interface with key departments to determine schedules for shift production and ensure an effective interface is maintained.Feedback to the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements and delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements.Provide technical expertise to the team. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent qualification.CQT Certification required.Proven understanding of GD&T for interpretation of engineer drawings and ability to read blueprints.Calibration trainingA minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.Excellent knowledge of MS Office.Good math and technical skills.Strong understanding of quality control standards and testing techniques.Decent understanding of ISO 9001 frameworkGood technical aptitude and understanding of inspection and measurement techniques. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. READING SKILLS: Ability to read, write and comprehend materials in English. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply 'common sense' understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
