Staff / Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant in New London, CT. This position is onsite, 5 days a week. The duration of this role is an anticipated 90-day engagement with opportunity for conversion to perm.Key Responsibilities:

• Support senior-level accounting functions within the finance team
• Leverage or integrate AI tools and workflows where applicable
• Operate independently, think critically, and problem-solve in a fast-moving environment
• Prepare reconciliations, enter journal entries, perform basic analysis

Skills

• Strong Accounting foundation
• Senior Accountant experience
• Higher education and/or nonprofit accounting experience
• High energy and able to think on their feet
• Strong independent problem-solving skills
• Proactive self-starter who can work with limited direction

Preferred Background:

• Prior experience working in higher education, colleges/universities, nonprofits, foundations, or related organizations
• Experience demonstrating process improvement, automation, or workflow optimization using AI tools
• Blackbaud strongly preferred
• Experience integrating AI tools into accounting or finance workflows is a plus
• Experience with tools such as Claude is a plus

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
