Physical Therapist - Nantucket

Job Summary Nantucket Cottage Hospital is seeking a motivated Physical Therapist for a hospital-based outpatient position that also includes part‑time coverage in acute care and the Emergency Department. This role offers a unique opportunity to build strong clinical skills across the full continuum of care, supporting patients from their first moments in the ED through their recovery in outpatient therapy. You will receive structured mentorship modeled on the one‑year Massachusetts APTA mentorship program, along with dedicated professional development time. Physical Therapists have the opportunity to follow patients across their entire care journey. Essential Functions Complete billing sheets accurately by the end of the day. Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Perform patient assessment and establish a plan of care. Provide in‑service education programs for nursing personnel as needed. Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation. Discuss evaluation, goals and treatment with both patient and family. Participate in hospital‑wide quality process improvement. Supervise PTAs according to organization policy and state regulations. Qualifications Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy required or Master’s Degree preferred
• Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred

Licenses and Credentials

• MA Physical Therapist license required
• Vehicle Driver’s License preferred

Experience • Completing internship or apprenticeship program 1‑2 years preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent organizational skills. Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems. Effective written communication tailored to audience. Ability to teach others. Strong problem solving, case management, and communication skills. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
