Licensed Practical Nurse - SCI Fayette

Job Details Salary: $67,558.00 - $84,332.00 annually. Location: Fayette County, PA. Job Type: Civil Service Permanent Full-Time. Position As a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Department of Corrections, you will help create a safer and healthier setting for inmates at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Fayette. Your work will support patient stability and contribute to positive outcomes across the facility. This position provides a steady routine, hands‑on care, and opportunities to learn new skills. Work Responsibilities Patient Care: Provide treatments, check vital signs, and assist inmates with daily living tasks. Medication Support: Administer medications as directed and document all treatments in the health record. Emergency Response: Respond to urgent medical situations and deliver first aid or CPR when needed. Record Management: Maintain accurate medical reports, prepare records for transfers, and manage controlled substance documentation. Equipment Oversight: Sterilize medical tools and maintain inventory levels in treatment areas. Team Communication: Share essential information with staff to ensure continuity of care across shifts. Work Schedule Full‑time employment, 40‑hour work week. Three work shifts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 2nd shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM; rotating days off, weekends, and holidays. Telework is not an option. Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania. Employees with a temporary practice permit must obtain licensure within one year of appointment. PA residency requirement is waived for this title. Eligibility if within 60 days of completing a PA licensed practical nursing program; must show proof of temporary permit or license at appointment. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. Must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
