Personal TrainerActive Wellness Center at Napa - Napa, CA 94558Salary Range$25.00 - $45.00 HourlyRole and ResponsibilitiesThe Fitness Specialist/Personal Trainer is responsible for managing the fitness floor, being responsive to members and guests by offering assistance, and educating members on the safe and correct use of cardio and weight training equipment. This person also performs assessments, provides package prescriptions, answers fitness and wellness related questions, and sells personal training packages.Specific ResponsibilitiesSell and deliver personal training sessions to clientsSchedule and conduct member fitness assessments and orientation appointmentsAssist members in using safe and effective exercise form during their workoutsMaintain a clean, safe and orderly fitness floor, racking weights, picking up towels, water bottles, magazines, cleaning equipment, etc.Support, teach, and encourage members to meet their fitness goalsWork together as a team with all departmentsDevelop relationships and encourage member referralsEnforce Active Wellness policies such as cell phone use, etc.Attend fitness department and fitness training meetings and continuing education classes to keep certifications currentAssist in development and implementation of new fitness programs/classesAdminister emergency care to members and guests in need of assistanceWork as a TEAM with all other departmentsOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisorOther FunctionsBe knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active WellnessPromote center services and activitiesPerform routine maintenance of equipmentAssist with keeping the center well stocked and cleanAttend Active Wellness site meetings and trainingsHandle injury and illness and security incident reportingQualificationsNational Personal Training Certification(s) required within 90 days of hire date, as well as modality specific certifications as required by role (if applicable)Degree in exercise science or fitness related field required in the absence of a certificationOperational knowledge of resistance training equipment and proper formKnowledge of anatomy, biomechanicsKnowledge of appropriate exercises for specific muscle groupsKnowledge of injury prevention and basic rehabilitationKnowledge of basic movement and posture assessments and body composition assessmentsAbility to calculate target heart rateBasic knowledge in nutritionMust be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer serviceStrong verbal communication skillsBasic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industryAED/CPR/First Aid CertifiedProof of citizenship or legal statusPhysical and Working ConditionsAbility to take the responsibility for the health and safety of othersAbility to stand for several hours in a same shift; ability to lift 25 lbsFitness club environmentMust follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standardsBenefitsHealth, Dental and Vision Insurance (Full Time)Health Flexible Spending Account (Full Time)Paid Time Off (Full Time)Parking & Transit Flexible Spending Accounts401(k) (Eligible after 1 year of service + 1000 work hours)Legal Support PlanEmployee Assistance Program & Mental Health Support ServiceComplimentary Club Membership and Discounts on Active Products (where applicable)This job description is intended to describe the general requirements for the position.
