Job Title: Yard Forklift Operator Job Description

The Yard Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, load, unload, and organize construction materials within the yard. In addition to equipment operation, this role performs a variety of general labor tasks to support overall yard operations, maintain cleanliness, and ensure a safe, organized work environment.

• Operate forklifts to move masonry, concrete products, steel, and other construction materials.
• Load and unload customer vehicles and delivery trucks accurately and efficiently.
• Transport materials to designated storage, staging, or pickup areas.
• Secure loads properly before transport.
• Stack, band, palletize, and organize materials according to yard layout and safety guidelines.
• Assist with inventory counts, material labeling, and stock rotation.
• Identify damaged, misplaced, or missing materials and report issues to supervisors.

• Forklift operator experience.
• Sitdown forklift experience is heavily preferred.
• Experience working in an outside work environment.

• General labor skills.
• Experience in construction labor.

The role is based in a construction material yard that is cleanly and very organized. The yard provides a well-maintained workspace conducive to efficient operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Doswell, VA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
