About the Role

An exceptional long-term freelance opportunity has arisen for an experienced CAD Manager to lead survey and engineering CAD operations on a flagship roads infrastructure project in Kent.

With project delivery scheduled well into the 2030s, this role provides outstanding stability for a freelance professional. You will act as the key link between engineering surveying, design, and site delivery teams, establishing robust CAD workflows and ensuring project-wide compliance with client standards.

  • Standards & Workflow Development: Establish, implement, and maintain project-wide CAD standards, procedures, and best practices strictly aligned with client requirements.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide expert technical guidance and hands-on support to site engineering and survey teams to ensure consistent, accurate spatial data usage.
  • Two-Way Information Flow: Manage the continuous exchange of CAD data between off-site design teams and on-site engineering crews to eliminate rework and prevent site-based errors.
Requirements
  • Proven track record as a CAD Manager on major UK highways or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Deep expertise in managing engineering survey data, spatial data standards, and CAD specifications.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads).
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills to interface effectively with survey, engineering, and design stakeholders.
  • Must hold a valid UK driving license and have access to a vehicle for regular on-site attendance across the Kent project footprint.
