Automotive Lead Technician

Position Summary Lead Technician – responsible for diagnosing drivability and electrical systems while mentoring a team to achieve higher customer satisfaction. This position offers a flat‑rate, performance‑based compensation model with a pay range of $26.51 to $51.66 per hour and a sign‑on bonus for first‑time hires. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair vehicle systems to specifications, including brakes, hydraulic, exhaust, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension, alignment, air conditioning, and computer systems. Explain technical diagnoses and required repairs to non‑mechanical customers. Stay current with automotive technology through continuous paid formal training. Assist and train technicians in performing technical activities. Obtain or maintain ASE certifications in at least five of the ASE categories A1–A8 within the first two years of employment; the company covers all exam fees. Minimum Qualifications Valid automobile driver’s license and the ability to drive customer and company vehicles. Skilled in brakes diagnosis/repair, alignment, steering & suspension diagnosis/repair, and general automotive maintenance and tire repair. Current federal, state and local certifications/licenses as required. Effective communication skills to convey technical information to non‑technical people. Reading, writing and basic math proficiency. Preferred Qualifications Strong understanding of electrical/electronic systems, engine repair, engine performance, automatic transmission/transaxle or manual drivetrain/transmission, and automotive heating/AC. Five years of automotive repair experience, proven through third‑party assessments or certifications, or completion of a vocational‑technical school program. ASE certification in at least three of A1–A8 (L1 can be one of the three – Brakes and Steering & Suspension). ASE certifications in A1–A5 are preferred.
