Here, you will make an impact by:Designing, coding, and maintaining automated tests for server-side software components, APIs, services, and integrations.Developing and enhancing reusable automation frameworks, test utilities, mock services, and validation tools.Appling security best practices, including encryption and secure communications, across system design and implementation. Troubleshooting and optimizing software performance, reliability, and interoperability across hardware and software interfaces. Identifying, documenting, troubleshooting, and tracking software defects in collaboration with development teams.Providing technical leadership on a cross-functional team and contribute to engineering best practices appropriate for a mid-senior level role. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution. Seven (7) years of software development experience including coding automated tests for server-side or backend software systems in a private, public, government or military environment Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.Experience testing APIs, services, databases, and distributed software systems.Have a working knowledge of industrial automation protocols such as CIP, OPC-UA, and MQTT.Experience with C/C++ and embedded applications.Understanding of low-latency, time-critical network communications over Wi-FiAbility to work effectively across a broad technology stack and to coordinate with external development resources.Proficiency with AI software development toolsWork location: Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.Travel: May include up to 10% domestic or internationalRelocation: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being 3M offers many programs to help you live your best life – both physically and financially.
