Heavy Equipment Diesel MechanicIn this position you will be a member of Markit!'s Fleet Management team and you will report to the Vice President of Operations and Shop Manager. Projects will be located throughout the State of California and surrounding states, including Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.Travel: 80% but may be up to 100% depending on project assignment. The Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic will perform scheduled, unscheduled, preventative maintenance, and repairs on a wide variety of industrial and small engine equipment to facilitate the forestry operations of Markit! Forestry Management LLC ("Markit!"). Maintenance and repairs will happen frequently on site in high elevations and in adverse weather conditions. Work is completed year round.This position requires knowledge of maintenance, trouble-shooting, and solving complex maintenance issues. The primary responsibilities of the position are:Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with applicable Original Equipment Manufacturers technical manuals.Perform repairs on inoperable equipment.Perform repairs in one or more areas in accordance with service manuals and manufacturers specifications.Equipment includes Bobcat and ASV Loaders, Industrial Tractors, Delimbers, Skidders, Chippers, Log Loaders, Harvesters, Graders, Dozers, Grinders, Excavators, Generators, Pressure Washers, attachments, trucks and trailers.Perform fabrication of hydraulic hoses.Order parts by using manuals and catalogs.Deliver parts to projects as necessary.Equipment transport and washing.Hiring and training of heavy equipment mechanic team.Required SkillsSpeak, read and write English.Ability to utilize a cell phone, tablet and/or laptop to record equipment maintenance and repairs.Willing to train in other skilled areas.Able to work any shift including weekends if required.Able to travel on short notice, some overnight travel may be required.Able to understand and comply with all parts ordering and issuing procedures.Able to work in adverse weather conditions, and austere environments.Able to lift 100 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently.Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to use precision measuring and testing equipment.Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and solve complex maintenance issues.Personal BehaviorsWorks well and interacts well with others.Able to deliver maintenance recommendations in a concise and persuasive manner.Hard-working and detail-oriented.Acts with the highest integrity at all times.Comfortable in a rapidly evolving entrepreneurial environment.Ability to function day-to-day with minimal direction.Adapts quickly to change.Background RequirementsValid driver's license with a clean driving recordCriminal and motor vehicle checkBenefitsCompetitive wages based on experience: Entry-level up to $35.00 per hourMid-level up to $40.00 per hourSenior-level up to $45.00 per hourQuarterly tool allowance.Annual reviews.Health insurance including medical, dental and vision.Supplementary insurance including life, short and long term insurance.Paid holidays, vacation and personal time.Retirement with company match.Company provided training for career advancement.Markit!
