Technical Information Specialist (Engineering).

Responsibilities Serve as the knowledge manager for the assigned division. Facilitate the collection, organization, dissemination, and promotion of Division knowledge resources and systems to ensure quick access to accurate and authoritative information by staff. Apply technological changes to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Coordinate with the District Library, District Knowledge Management, and Division staff to ensure the availability and accessibility of pertinent industry standards, technical references, and other shared knowledge resources. Monitor the electronic system for storage capacity, backup availability, and recovery and notify management of potential problems identified. Serve as primary Records Coordinator for the Division. Ensure official records are organized, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with federal and Corps regulations. Provide expert information technology guidance and support to the assigned division. Provide guidance for assigned division computer and IT purchases and is responsible for providing status updates to management and Branch IT coordinators. Troubleshoot computer, network and software problems and elevate as necessary. Qualifications Basic Requirement for a Technical Information Specialist: Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in knowledge management, information management, or information technology. OR Five years of experience equivalent to that gained through a 4‑year college in the relevant field. OR Combination of education and experience that satisfies the above. Specialized Experience: One year managing knowledge information, collecting and organizing technical documentation, and administrating automated data management systems. Advanced Education: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of graduate education beyond a bachelor’s in a relevant field. Combination of Education and Experience: At least 100% when computed by the formula provided in the announcement. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a GS position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (GS‑07). Experience includes paid and unpaid work (e.g., volunteer, AmeriCorps, Peace Corps). Transcripts required if qualification is based on education.
