Cook II Position: Cook II – Tomahawk Intermediate School, Hedgesville, West Virginia. Division: Administration and Support Services. Accountable to: Building Principal & Director of Food Services. Pay Grade: B (Minimum $30,210 – Maximum $42,680). Benefits: Competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation. Contract: 200 days. Work Hours: 6:30 am – 1:30 pm. Start Date: August 12, 2026. General Responsibilities Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and other foods to children and adults in a courteous, customer‑service oriented manner. Organize and set up equipment and workstations. Perform duties in accordance with health, food service, government, and other regulations. Essential Tasks Assist in preparing food portions and setting the cafeteria counter. Serve students and staff from the cafeteria counter. Remove used dishes and assist in cleaning counters, tables, and furnishings in the dining area. Wash pots and pans. Practice personal hygiene and proper sanitation procedures. Exhibit courtesy and understanding to staff and customers. Set up and break down serving areas. Participate in formal and informal training. Demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices. Perform related work as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing and serving meats, breads, vegetables, and other foods on a large scale; knowledge of food preparation equipment; skill in using standardized and specialized kitchen utensils and equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students, and school staff; emotional control; ability to work in a fast‑paced environment; courteous customer service skills. Education and Experience Basic education necessary for reading and following written food menus and work schedules. Valid food handler’s card issued by the school division. Comparable training and experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications. Physical Requirements Ability to use sensory skills for effective communication; use and operate office equipment; walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, pulling; lift at least 50 pounds; stand for long periods; exposure to chemicals.
