Job Title Transportation Manager II Department Supply Chain Location United States of America, Texas, Seguin Employment Type Full time Job Summary Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the direct driver management and supervision of a midsize driver count, ensuring safe and timely service movement of freight, load assignment, and providing best‑in‑class customer service. The Transportation Manager must ensure compliance with DOT regulations, manage driver compliance and company regulations, and work with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight and loads. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including day, night, and weekend shifts. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safety to minimize turnover and maximize productivity. Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and work on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and achieving profitability. Utilize personnel management, including training and orientation of drivers and employees, and assist with internal and third‑party customer systems. Conduct analysis of fleet operations and profitability, make recommendations for continuous improvement, determine and measure key performance indicators, and create, maintain, and present customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis. Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and assignment of drivers to balance equipment in market. Perform administrative duties such as payroll, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing and documenting, resolving pay issues, invoicing, and creating operational or financial reports. Manage the yard, including checking and inspecting equipment, replacing parts, completing repairs, and coordinating with maintenance for preventative maintenance and safety‑related mechanical issues. Work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing, mechanical problems, and accessorial pay‑related issues. Maintain the company’s safety culture through daily safety messages, monthly briefings, quarterly training, and annual reviews, enforcing DOT compliance and company safety requirements. Assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on‑time service and meet customer requirements. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and 2–3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience. Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed. Strong professional communication skills applied internally and externally. Proven experience in establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships. Experience in fostering strong customer relationships via delivery of commitments, open communication, and ongoing feedback/improvement. Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy. Accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Experience with Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to manage multiple competing priorities. Ability to consistently travel to account and customer locations. Adaptability to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities and directives. Experience in holding people accountable and conducting difficult conversations. Ability to perform in a stressful and high‑pressure work environment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field. 1–2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience. Compensation Starting pay: $63,000. May be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes per company bonus and incentive plans.
