Administrative Operations Specialist - Foot-in-the-Door State Government Opportunity

Pay Rate: $25 per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

Assignment Length: Temporary (with possibility of extension)

We have an immediate opening for an Administrative Operations Specialist for an office with a tax focus in Augusta. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience with a State of Maine department while building skills that can open doors to future government opportunities. This position pays $25 per hour and is a temporary assignment with the potential for extension .

If you enjoy administrative work, customer service, and working with detailed documentation, this role offers a unique opportunity to support important tax-related operations while developing your professional experience in a government setting. Strong spreadsheet, administrative, and communication skills will help you succeed in this position.

Typical daily duties:

• Contact taxpayers by phone and in writing to obtain or clarify information

• Discuss and explain tax forms, policies, and procedures with taxpayers

• Review tax returns, applications, and records for completeness and accuracy

• Maintain detailed records and update information using spreadsheets and other computer systems

• Provide administrative support related to tax documentation and compliance processes

What we're looking for:

• Strong administrative and customer service experience

• Proficiency with spreadsheets and general computer applications

• Ability to review and discuss tax-related documents with professionalism and accuracy

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
