Supervisory Supply Technician

SUMMARY This position is located in the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of the Logistics Service at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) – Veterans Health Administration (VHA) – VA Medical Center in Saint Cloud, MN. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the primary inventory point, ensuring supplies and material are distributed to all areas, and to supervise inventory processes. QUALIFICATIONS Selective Placement Factor (SPF) : Must possess a current, valid state‑issued driver’s license. Experience : One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS‑06, including planning and coordinating work, establishing priorities, overseeing receipt and distribution of supplies, maintaining stock, monitoring expiration dates, providing training, and making improvements to logistics activities. Skills & Competencies : Conflict Management, Influencing/Negotiating, Managing Resources, Partnering, Planning and Evaluating, Supervisory Situational Judgment. Physical requirements: standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lb, pushing carts that may weigh over 100 lb; occasionally moving items over 40 lb with assistance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises a team of supply technicians and staff in the distribution area of logistics. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets short‑term priorities, and prepares schedules. Assigns work to subordinates and provides guidance on new or complex situations. Oversees management and distribution of all supplies and material, including inventory, expiration monitoring, and daily inventory checks. Ensures supplies are unpacked, properly stored, and available via the computerized inventory system. Analyzes management reports to control fund limits, identify trends, correct errors, and resolve problems. Conducts market research on new products and ensures their entry into the inventory system. Cooperates with vendors, contract managers, supervisors, and other staff on logistics issues. Communicates with subordinate and clinical staff to coordinate logistics activities and implement policy or procedural changes. Works Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. (full‑time).
