Project Engineer - Electric Distribution

We’re seeking a motivated Project Engineer – Electric Distribution to join our growing Electric Programs team. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys hands-on engineering work and is interested in growing into a Project Manager or Technical Lead over time.This position offers the opportunity to support and lead the technical execution of electric distribution projects, while gaining exposure to project planning, client coordination, cost awareness, and team leadership. You’ll work closely with experienced Project Managers who will mentor and support your growth as the team and program continue to expand.This is a high-impact growth role on an expanding team, offering visibility, increasing responsibility, and a clear development path.This is a hybrid role located in the Cincinnati area. What You’ll DoTechnical Engineering & DeliveryPerform and oversee electric distribution design and engineering work, including overhead and underground distribution, system upgrades, and modernization projectsLead quality control (QC) reviews for pre- and post-construction design packagesPrepare and review technical analyses, design documents, and deliverables to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with standardsProvide technical guidance to Design Engineers, Designers, and Drafters, including task direction and review of workReview vendor drawings and conduct independent engineering reviews for simpler projectsSupport permitting and coordination with municipalities, utilities, and third-party stakeholders as neededAssist with construction support and help resolve design-related issues during buildProject Coordination & PM Skill DevelopmentPartner closely with the Project Manager to support scope, schedule, budget, and quality trackingCommunicate technical risks, constraints, and schedule impacts clearly to PMs and stakeholdersParticipate in client meetings, technical discussions, and coordination callsAssist with proposal development, technical estimates, and understanding fee structuresSupport forecasting, workload planning, and tracking progress across multiple projectsLearn and apply best practices related to project controls, change management, and risk managementTeam & Program GrowthContribute ideas for process improvements, standardization, and efficiency gainsMentor junior team members as appropriate and share technical knowledgeSupport a collaborative, growth-oriented team cultureRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university; degrees from other engineering disciplines may be considered depending on experienceMinimum of 5 years of experience supporting electric distribution systems, including overhead and/or underground designStrong technical foundations and attention to detailAbility to communicate effectively with engineers, designers, and project stakeholdersIdeal Background & Growth IndicatorsExperience working in a consulting, utility, or infrastructure-focused environmentInterest in project management, leadership, and client interactionComfort working on multiple tasks or projects in a deadline-driven environmentDesire to grow beyond pure design into a broader technical or leadership role over timeNice to HaveExposure to utility clients or investor-owned utilities (IOUs)Familiarity with distribution design workflows, permitting, and construction supportExperience assisting with schedules, estimates, or project tracking toolsExperience mentoring junior team membersPE licensure or EIT certification in pursuit of PE licensureWhy This Role Is DifferentBuilt-in PM exposure while staying hands-on technicallyClear pathway to Project Manager or Technical Leadership growth, supported by mentorshipOpportunity to be part of a fast-growing team with increasing responsibility and visibilityProgram-based work offering stability, variety, and long-term client impactCulture that values continuous improvement, learning, and initiative#LI-RemotWhy Join Us?At ENTRUST Solutions Group, a Leidos company, we are a community of over 3,000 dedicated professionals committed to our clients and each other.
