Clinical Therapist BHOP Fee for Service

Job Summary:

To provide therapeutic services to children, adolescents and their families.

Duties & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform a comprehensive psychosocial assessment of assigned consumers.
-Treat consumers with respect.
-Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
-Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM IV).
-Perform and record mental status examination.
-Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others.
-Collect pertinent data from appropriate collateral sources in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.
-Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.
-Develop and present, verbally and in writing, a clear clinical formulation based on behavioral data and relevant theory while incorporating psychosocial and family issues.
-Use psychiatric consultation and intervention when clinically appropriate.
-Use knowledge to decide appropriate levels of care in order to refer to various points in the continuum of care.
-Demonstrate awareness and skill in addressing areas related to diversity.

Provide individual, group, and family mental health and/or substance abuse therapy.
-Treat consumers with respect.
-Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
-Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.-
-Develop and implement a plan of care with ongoing consumer input.
-Apply knowledge of psychopathology and primary methodologies of psychotherapy.
-Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM IV).
-Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others.

-Develop and present, verbally and in writing, a clear clinical formulation based on behavioral data and relevant theory while incorporating psychosocial and family issues.
-Identify specific therapeutic interventions appropriate for specific problems.
-Provide psychotherapy, both short and long term.
-Provide group therapy, both short and long term.
-Use psychiatric consultation and intervention when clinically appropriate.
-Use knowledge to decide appropriate levels of care in order to refer to various points in the continuum of care.
-Demonstrate awareness and skill in addressing areas related to diversity.
-Identify psychiatric disorders in parents/caretakers of clients and incorporate the necessary theory and treatment techniques into the work with the client system.

Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the consumers' network of care.
-Maintain knowledge of the systems, services and resources available to the population and access them as needed.
-Communicate with various local agencies and individuals, as well as with Center staff.

Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other Center requirements.
-Complete daily activity logs.
-Complete initial assessment forms.
-Complete progress notes with appropriate format.
-Develop and implement a plan of care with ongoing consumer input.
-Complete a clear, specific, behaviorally oriented treatment plan as required with consumer signature.
-Complete insurance documentation as required.
-Complete required reports and evaluations.
-Follow required office procedures in a cooperative manner.

Attend trainings, case presentations and conferences.
-Provide feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended.
-Attend mandatory in-service trainings and other trainings required for renewal of licensure.

Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff, consumers, community agencies and the public.
-Communicate with various local agencies and other departments or teams at The Center.
-Work in cooperation with co-workers and supervisory staff.
-Deal with team members regarding problems in a constructive manner.
-Accept and use direction and supervision.
-Benefit from constructive criticism.
-Perform in a calm, professional manner in all job related situations.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
-Serve on appropriate Center committees.
-Provide mental health consultation to other community agencies.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES 
Must demonstrate:
-Knowledge about human development for children, ages 5-18, including the ability to identify developmental delays.
-Skill in evaluation and clinical treatment with children, ages 5-18, and their families, with serious emotional disturbance and behavior disorders. 
-Must possess theoretical knowledge about various treatment modes/modalities and be able to adapt treatment techniques in a flexibly manner to meet client/family needs.
-Basic knowledge about psychiatric medication and is aware of significant side effects.

Requirements:

Master degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field and relevant clinical experience with children and/or adolescents and their families. LICSW/ LMFT/ LMHC preferred, as well as training/ experience in substance abuse treatment. Must have experience with community based work and/or severely emotionally disturbed adolescents. LCDP preferred.
