Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Manager of Patient Safety and Risk at Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center, you will oversee the facility’s Patient Safety Program, including the Patient Safety Plan requirements for the collection, analysis and reporting of events and patient safety data, investigation of events and near misses. You will ensure all accreditation and regulatory requirements for patient safety are fully met, participate in system office initiatives and programs to mitigate identified risks, coordinate claim team requests, collaborate with other key stakeholders to implement learnings from claims, and spearhead the coordination of all legal documents related to hospital liability. You should be proactive, an educator with strong communication skills, and have a background as a Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in patient safety and risk management for a general acute-care hospital. Job Requirements Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree required, or five (5) years of related job or industry experience in lieu of degree. Minimum of three (3) years of risk management, patient safety and/or other related professional experience and a minimum of two (2) years of experience managing/supervising employees and/or vendors. Required Special Skills and Training Experience with the event reporting process, root-cause analyses, and event investigation/review. Experience with patient complaint/grievance investigations and prompt resolution. Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks. Familiarity with all legal documents related to hospital liability, including management of subpoenas, summaries and complaints and other related activities. Knowledge of federal, state and local healthcare-related laws and regulations; ability to comply with these in healthcare practices and activities. Experience with risk and the implementation of HPI and cause analysis. Strong professional, organizational and interpersonal skills for working with teams, physicians, committees and senior management. Excellent communication skills (oral and written), presentation style, including the ability to concisely present data to leaders, clinicians and staff at all levels of the organization. Preferred Qualifications Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Benefits Relocation assistance. Annual performance-based bonus program.
