Position Type
- This position is a full-time, salaried, year-round position.
Requirements
- Experience leading a team of faculty and staff in a daycare or educational setting
- Demonstrated sensitivity toward staff, parents, volunteers, and students, with the ability to interact effectively with all
- Meets everyday responsibilities with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism
- Understands the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality in school operations

Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of experience as a Preschool Director or in a comparable early childhood program leadership role.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Active CPR and Child Care certifications
- Experience directing or overseeing before- and after-school or summer care programs for infants through age five
Summary of Responsibilities
The Preschool Director holds full ownership of the following responsibility domains. Delegation of clerical support is appropriate; delegation of principal-level accountability is not.
1. Instructional Leadership and Staff Development
- Lead regular formal and informal observations and evaluations for all faculty and staff, including a minimum of two documented competency observations per year for all lead teachers and aides (Infant through PreK3)
- Conduct onboarding competency assessments for all new hires
- Execute 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-in meetings for all new employees
- Develop and maintain individual Professional Growth and Development Plans in coordination with the Chief Academic Officer
- Plan and facilitate Inservice days for faculty and staff
- Facilitate annual Bible CEU training (two classes, four hours) for all preschool staff
- Facilitate annual safety training (four hours) for all preschool staff
- Schedule and facilitate CPR/First Aid certification classes twice per year
- Coordinate and facilitate continuing professional development classes (minimum 12 hours per year)
- Support coaching and mentorship for teachers and aides in partnership with the Chief Academic Officer
- Support and track IdahoSTARS training compliance for all employees
- Maintain tracking of all staff certifications with expiration visibility; coordinate renewals through Paylocity and HR
- Support teacher and staff discipleship opportunities, including spiritual formation and Kingdom-minded professional growth
2. Student Enrollment and Family Engagement
- Conduct and schedule all family interviews for prospective students
- Schedule and facilitate classroom observation days for Twos and PreK3 student assessment
- Schedule and coordinate PreK4 student assessments in partnership with the Elementary Principal
- Maintain and update the enrollment spreadsheet on an ongoing basis
- File and manage all enrollment documentation, including student folders, immunization records, exemption forms, and medical record surveys
- Coordinate late drop-off and early pickup logistics for enrolled students
- Provide day-to-day parent and family support, including communication, conflict resolution, and follow-up
- Be available to support all parent-teacher conferences (twice per year)
- Support family discipleship opportunities and community-building events
3. Compliance, Licensing, and Safety
- Schedule and manage annual licensing visits with Idaho Department of Health and Welfare
- Schedule and coordinate annual fire inspections
- Maintain and uphold all ACSI accreditation standards; proactively communicate compliance status to administration
- Ensure daily logs for all infant and toddler classrooms are consistently maintained
- Perform regular physical walkthroughs of all preschool facilities using a standardized checklist to identify and resolve safety concerns proactively
- Ensure all background check records are complete, filed, and current for all staff; coordinate with HR and Health and Welfare for new hire processing
- Print and file all background check documentation in staff binders
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment in full compliance with all applicable health and childcare regulations
- Keep IdahoSTARS website current with accurate ratio and program information
- Support IdahoSTARS scholarship and continuing education opportunities for staff
4. Operations and Administrative Oversight
- Maintain the master substitute calendar and manage all staff time-off scheduling for the full preschool division
- Coordinate day-to-day substitute coverage as staff call out or emergencies arise
- Advance-schedule substitute coverage for known staff PTO
- Manage the full preschool annual budget (August through May) with support from the Financial Controller as needed
- Communicate with all outside vendors and service partners, including food service, custodial, IT/tech support, music, dance, and other enrichment providers
- Collaborate with food service on teacher in-service days, sign-up day logistics, and monthly lunch orders
- Collaborate with custodial services on facility maintenance and scheduling
- Coordinate with IT/tech support for classroom and administrative technology needs
- Manage all supplies for classrooms, teacher lounge, curriculum, teacher workroom, nurses station, and storage areas; place orders and maintain appropriate inventory
- Organize and maintain the teacher lounge, nurses station, workroom, and storage closets
- Check, stock, and maintain the nurses station on a regular basis
- Respond to all staff and family emails within 24 hours
- Distribute weekly team newsletters to preschool staff
- Manage all picture day operations in coordination with relevant vendors and central administration
- Support FACTS system use and facilitate training on teach-to practices
- Prepare and submit quarterly attendance reports
- Decide indoor versus outdoor recess as conditions require
5. Little Trojan Kids Club (LTKC) Oversight
- Provide oversight of the LTKC before- and after-school program through regular meetings with the LTKC Coordinator
- Manage and approve time-off scheduling for all LTKC employees; coordinate with LTKC Coordinators for coverage
- Oversee hiring panels for LTKC staff positions
- Ensure staffing ratios are maintained during all LTKC operating hours
- Provide supervision and direction for all before- and after-school training for LTKC staff
- Support the LTKC Coordinator in summer planning, including curriculum calendar, supplies, crafts, and programming
- Meet with the Elementary TKC Director to coordinate shared planning for the upcoming year (summer)
- Assist with summer budget oversight for LTKC programming
6. Staff Culture, Conflict Resolution, and Shepherding
- Actively shepherd the preschool staff culture through consistent relational presence, classroom visibility, and proactive communication
- Provide day-to-day conflict resolution support for staff, students, and families
- Maintain a safe and transparent reporting environment in which staff feel supported in raising concerns without fear of retaliation
- Address behavioral and performance concerns directly, promptly, and with appropriate documentation
- Provide day-to-day student behavior support as needed
- Support the spiritual formation and discipleship of preschool staff in alignment with NCS's Heart, Head, Hands mission
