About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PACU Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10:00 - 22:30 Experience: Minimum of 3 years required. License: State RN license required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CCRN preferred. Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred. Description: UNIT DETAILS: The unit provides care for patients undergoing general surgery procedures including gallbladder, appendectomy, and bowel cases. Orthopedic procedures such as total joints and fracture repair are also performed. Urology procedures include cystoscopy cases, TURP, TURBT, ablation, robotic cases, and more. Neurosurgical procedures include ACDF, PLIF, tumor resections, CVA, and TIA management. Vascular care encompasses TAVR, FEVAR, amputations, stents, and endoscopic procedures like ERCP. Plastic surgeries include mastectomy and corrective surgeries. SCHEDULE: Variable schedules with 4 x 10-hour shifts (10:00-22:30 or 11:00-23:30). Weekend shifts are required every other weekend unless specified otherwise. Call duty is required for two days per week on the 11:00-11:30 shift. Staff may float within the facility and scope of practice if necessary. COMPLIANCE: Full compliance is required for timely start. If not compliant, a two-week delay will occur due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule. All requests for time off must be finalized at the time of submission. HOLIDAY EXPECTATIONS: If one major holiday falls within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays occur in the assignment period, the traveler must work both. If three holidays fall during the period, the traveler is expected to work two holidays. Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day. Candidates must meet clinical fit requirements after review and screening. The position requires proficiency in charting systems. Skills necessary include but are not limited to airway assessment, IV management, patient assessment, and post-operative care. The unit serves adult and geriatric patient populations. Daily census can fluctuate but averages around 45 patients. The unit typically accommodates 14 beds. Interdisciplinary support is provided including IV teams, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Candidates should possess experience with a variety of surgical procedures and patient management techniques.
